A new look!

We have now completed the refurbishment and are delighted that our guests are enjoying the new fresher feel.

So what has changed?
The communal areas of the hotel have received a complete overhaul and considerable investment has been made to ensure the overall effect is ‘Contemporary meets Classic,’ in keeping with this beautiful country house.

The Entrance Hall is flagged with a trusloe limestone floor from Artisans of Devizes and covered with antique Persian rugs sourced from the Persian Rug Company in Long Melford. Bespoke contemporary style sofas and Davey carriage lanterns fit perfectly with the Portland stone walls and guarantees the warmest welcome.

The Sitting Room has a home from home feel with individually sourced antique pieces of furniture, lamps from Neptune and Heathfield, horsehair pendant shades and curtain fabric by Bokhara from Lewis and Wood.

The Library has replaced the old bar area. Beautiful handmade interlined blinds and curtains by Eileen Stirling Design made from brand new ‘Ian Sanderson’ fabric called Popinjay launched at ‘Decorex’ in September 2012. Antique wall lights from Norfolk Decorative Antiques will create a space to relax, chat and meet friends in revitalised, tranquil surroundings. With plenty of books, games and DVD’s to enjoy.

The ‘NEW’ Bar now at the back of the restaurant which we feel works more effectively on its own and with the restaurant and really gets the ‘wow’ factor with a zinc topped bar. An antique mercury glass display with shelves from Tony Sandels, bespoke textured wood to the front of the bar, bespoke pendant shades made from horsehair, custom designed banquettes upholstered in Osborne and Little fabric with studs, gun metal tolix style bar stools, Mekong tables from Ecco trading, burnished metallic effect wallpaper from Osborne and Little and Lino prints by Hugo Guinness sourced from Wilson Stephens Art.

The Restaurant has a new airy feel which is enhanced by the wonderful views. A new bespoke designed carpet, Jade coloured wallpaper by Larsen and new curtains from Harlequin and two large light boxes in the ceiling to enhance the light and space by replicating 1920’s ballroom. It is pretty spectacular during the day or night. If you chose a sunny day to visit then sitting out on the new terrace sipping a cold glass of Pimms and enjoying a selection of nibbles is a real must.

Paintings by Fred Ingrams and Rachel Lockwood, both local artists, finish off a truly magnificent facelift by The Design House! Thank you to all who have helped with the transformation.

So please come and sample the new Congham
